San Diego County Fair - Paw Patrol Tour

This is the last weekend for the San Diego County Fair and the Paw Patrol Tour will be stopping by for one day only!

"Your favorite pups are rolling to the San Diego County Fair on a multi-city tour. Enter the PAW Patroller vehicle, which contains a life-sized PAW Patrol Headquarters through which kids can walk. Within the PAW Patroller experience, there are interactive games, a life-sized Lookout Tower (with working periscopes) and a slide to take kids on to the next mission.

The tour includes activations featuring two new segments launching this fall, Jungle Rescue and Roll Patrol. PAW Patrol fans can take photos in the Jungle area featuring the new pup tracker, and then ride on life-sized Roll Patrol racers around a track and finish their day by taking a photo with PAW Patrol pups, Chase, Marshall, Skye and Rubble."

The Salvation Army Kroc Center - FREE Family Read & Play Day

The Salvation Army Kroc Center offers several free family events.  One of which is a free monthly Family Read and Play Day for kids 5 and under.  The event lasts for an hour and starts off with reading a couple of books.  Each month features a new book that will be read and then each child gets a copy of that book to take home.  The next three dates are April 12, May 10, and June 14 from 10 am to 11 am.  

When we went last month, the featured book was Brontorina by James Howe.

If it's your first time, your child will also get a free backpack.

The backpack comes with several free books, a pencil, stickers, and some information.

After story time, the kids are invited to play with the Imagination Playground.  Kendo had a great time trying to connect and climb on the pieces.

If you've never been to the Salvation Army Kroc Center, it can be confusing trying to figure out where to go.  Once you make it into the parking lot, as you face the buildings, the pool should be in the middle and the preschool is the first building on the left.  You want to go to the last building on the right.

Home Depot - FREE Kids Workshop

Visit your local Home Depot tomorrow morning (April 2, 2016) to build a free butterfly house!  There's a different project the first Saturday of every month!  Each kid gets an apron and a pin that features that month's project.  Registration is recommended, but not required.  Kits are given on a first come basis.  Even though it says 9 am to 12 noon, it's really until supplies run out.  I recommend getting there during the first hour.

Mira Mesa - FREE Egg Hunts

There will be 2 egg hunts in Mira Mesa on Thursday, March 24, 2016!

Lopez Ridge Neighborhood Park will have a face painter and balloon twister for children 0-6 from 11 am to 1 pm.  Egg hunts are at 11:30 am for children 0-3 and 11:45 am for children 4-6.  The spring bunny will also make an appearance!

 

Mira Mesa Community Park will have games and prizes from 1 to 3 pm.  Egg hunts are at 1:30 pm for children 0-3, 1:45 pm for children 4-6, and 2:00 pm for children 7-11.

4S Library - FREE activity

The 4S Library hosts "Play to Learn" on Wednesdays from 1 to 2 pm.  Babies and toddlers can explore the various play stations, such as puzzles, Play-Doh, and puppets. 

Kendo likes to play with the kinetic sand.   In the background, there is also a container of colorful rice kernels with funnels and scoops.  A little messy, but everyone helps to clean up during the last 5 minutes.

Kendo also likes to play with the train set.  Behind him, there are large beads which can be strung together.  It helps build eye-hand coordination!

They also host a variety of other activities for babies/toddlers, older kids, and adults throughout the week.  Check out their website for more info!

It's also great because it's right next to 4S Commons Town Center, so you can get groceries at Ralphs or Jimbo's, get beauty products at Ulta, or eat at one of the many restaurants.

Berry Best Chocolate Fest

The Berry Best Chocolate Fest is coming to Liberty Station this Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 11 am to 6 pm!

Lowe's Build & Grow - FREE activity for kids

We went to Lowe's this morning for our first Build & Grow.

Kendo received goggles, an apron, and a kit to build a monster truck.  The kit includes instructions, wooden pieces, nails, a patch, and two sets of stickers.

You can use either the Blue Thunder stickers or the Monster Jam World Finals stickers to decorate your monster truck.

The kit includes a patch that you can iron onto the apron.

Kendo loves his new toy and has been playing with it since we got home.

The next Build & Grow will be Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 7 pm at all Lowe's.  Kids will get the chance to build a Jimmie Johnson pullback car.  Online registration starts March 14, 2016.  Once you've signed up, you'll need to print out a form.  Don't forget to sign it and bring it with you.

SeaWorld San Diego - FREE Preschool & Teacher Fun Cards

My husband and I recently took our son and other family members to SeaWorld.

Explorer's Reef was a big hit!  As you enter the park, you are greeted by several large pools.  You can reach in and touch cleaner fish and bamboo sharks!

Kendo absolutely loved seeing all the different the animals.  Dolphin Point offers a chance to interact with dolphins.  For an additional fee, SeaWorld offers two programs for a special experience.  You can interact with the dolphins while in the water (Dolphin Interaction Program) or without getting into the water (Dolphin Encounter).

We were lucky enough to see some flamingos walk through the park.  What a neat surprise!

What's a visit without a water ride on a hot day?  We were soaking wet after Shipwreck Rapids, but it was fun.  You need to be at least 48 inches tall to ride or at least 42 inches if you ride with a supervising companion.  Younger kids will enjoy the Sesame Street Bay of Play.  It has more family friendly rides, a small water play area, and lots of room to climb, bounce, and run around.

Kids who are 2 or under always receive free admission, but did you know they also offer a free Preschool Fun Card for kids who are 3-5 and residents of San Diego or Orange County?  Hurry though, you need to register online by March 13, 2016 and redeem at the park by March 20, 2016.
